"Gina Miller is an exemplary candidate with the courage and connections to deliver the changes our University needs"
Prof. David Dabydeen, Nominator for Candidate Gina Miller
Hon Fellow Selwyn College
I’m standing to be Chancellor because I believe Cambridge University must boldly face the future. At a moment of profound global disruption, challenge, and transformation, the University needs an ambassador who is widely respected, outward-looking, imaginative, and unafraid to act decisively.
Throughout my career, I have consistently defended our democracy and Parliament, actively consulting, collaborating, and drafting legislation and regulations in key areas such as education, modern-day slavery, financial transparency, and online safety. My experience spans multiple governments and political parties, both in the UK and Europe. I am uniquely positioned to partner effectively with whoever is in government over the coming decade, championing Cambridge University’s interests with determination, clarity, and integrity.
While I hold the deepest respect for Cambridge’s traditions, I am fearless in challenging intellectual and political dishonesty wherever necessary. I bring real-world experience, independence, entrepreneurial spirit, extensive networks, and an unwavering belief in the transformative power of education to open doors, broaden perspectives, and drive social progress.
This is not the moment for short-term cuts, cautious hesitation, or maintaining the status quo. The world is changing rapidly, and Cambridge must lead, not merely adapt. We must harness our extraordinary intellectual resources to confront fundamental global challenges – energy security, economic resilience, technological innovation, ethical AI development, and climate responsibility.
I am passionate about helping Cambridge fulfil its mission to serve society through the pursuit of education, knowledge, and discovery, through investing boldly in people, fostering dynamic partnerships, and building a confident, responsible, and forward-looking future.
